When Dreams Change

In all the crazy of life, motherhood, and my former career I almost forgot this dream. I finally got to say YES to something I’ve been forced to say NO to.

Growing up as an athlete I found so much value in coaches who taught me things far beyond a game through their coaching. It has always been something that I've wanted to give back. When I was in my early 20’s I had to turn down several amazing opportunities to coach because of my nursing schedule. While 3 days a week at the hospital is amazing, it was never consistent, and it always overlapped into practices/games.

While I loved my career in healthcare, it was the lifestyle that came with my passion that wasn’t aligning. I initially took the leap out of “traditional” healthcare to pursue virtual fitness coaching because I wanted more time with my kids. This certainly filled some of that drive to "coach" and my passion for healthcare. It also gave me full flexibility to be home raising my babies.

Now, in this new season where my kids are getting a little older, I’m starting to bring to life even more dreams I had forgotten about. I finally said YES & took on a chance to coach a girls basketball team. It is igniting so many new fires in my soul & was well worth the wait.

Seeing these young players have a passion in their heart & excitement for the game is so refreshing. More thank basketball, they are learning teamwork, not to let mistakes define them, and the power of using the gifts God has given them.

It took closing a door on one dream to open the door to many others. Sometimes our dreams come into our life to serve us only for a season. That doesn’t mean they weren’t right for us, it just means they had their place to lead us to new destinations.

Maybe you are living out a dream right now, but it is costing you many others. Perhaps, the dream you once thought was perfect for you isn’t anymore. Don’t hang onto it just because you feel like you have to. Life is filled with seasons & change. If you have a new calling in your heart, go for it.

This is our one chance at life. Go try ALL the things you feel in your heart. If it wasn’t mean to be from God, then He will guide you back. Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails”.

Pray, take action, trust, and see where you land!
